Friday Oct. 23 – Day 1 - Fly to Santiago, Chile (Air Canada, direct)
Leave Toronto in the evening.
Saturday Oct. 24 – Day 2 - Arrive in Santiago, Chile (approx. noon). Fly to Punta Arenas
Fly to Punta Arenas. Arrive in the evening. Gather for a welcome dinner.
Sunday Oct. 25 – Day 3 - Departure at 9:30am for The Singular, Puerto Bories
Approximately 3 hour bus ride to our hotel.
The Singular Hotel is set on 100 acres lining the Fjord of Last Hope. It is located just off the beaten path outside Puerto Natales in the Chilean town of Puerto Bories. The hotel is run by fourth generation family members of the original pioneers. It is described as "simple luxury laced with character and charisma".
The afternoon expedition will include a light climb to observe the mighty Andean condors, among the world's largest birds. We'll arrive back in time to enjoy the eco-spa and a dinner celebrating the region's terroir and heritage.
Monday Oct. 26 – Day 4 - Full Day Excursion
An exciting day full of Patagonia wonders. We’ll navigate by boat on the waters of the Fjord to a beautiful working ranch located on the peninsula, Estancia La Peninsula. Here we’ll learn about the local gaucho culture and sheep farming in an environment where the conservation of nature and animal welfare are at the core of the operation. The choice is yours to either horseback ride on one of their prized criollo horses or trek through the estancia’s diverse landscape of wide-open pampas, green southern beech forests and rocky coastline.
A wine tasting & pairing of select Chilean and Argentine wines will take place in the evening.
Tuesday Oct. 27 – Day 5 - Full Day Excursion
This excursion will enable you to feel and experience authentic Patagonia - the country side, the sheep, the horses, the wild, the remoteness, the beauty. It is a full day excursion in one of the wildest, mystic and remote areas of the Utima Esperanza area.
The drive to the mountain range is just under 2 hours. During the trip you will see a Patagonia very different from that within the Park ... you'll see the land made famous by none other than, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
We hike in the Sierra Baguales, an impressive mountain range whose name was given by the locals for the wild horses that roam the land. The breathtaking views, the fossils, and the seclusion of it all remind us of what a privilege place this is - reserved for adventurers with a pioneer's spirit.
Wednesday Oct. 28 – Day 6 - Departure at 10am to Torres del Paine National Park
A 2.5 hour bus ride to the National Park and our hotel. The Hotel Salto Chico is the only lodge in the center of the Torres del Paine National Park and is located on the banks of the Salto Chico waterfall. It offers excellent views of Paine Massif and two out of the three impressive torres (or towers), which give the park its name.
A half day outing will be planned for the afternoon followed by a welcome dinner.
Thursday Oct. 29 – Day 7 - Torres del Paine National Park (8-9 hrs of walking, 17km)
Full day hike to the Torres Del Paine Lookout (weather dependent)
Torres del Paine National Park is recognized as one of the most spectacular and beautiful places on the earth. The park was created in 1959 and declared as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1978. We'll spend a full day in the park walking through century old forests and past gorges until we reach the Torres campground. We'll climb a glacial moraine to the Tower’s vista point where we'll enjoy a picnic lunch. The afternoon will take us back down to the Cerro Paine Ranch surrounded by views of multicolored lakes.
Friday Oct. 30 – Day 8 - Torres del Paine National Park – (4-6hr of walking, 12km)
Hike to Glacier Grey
We'll leave the hotel by boat and walk from the Pehoe Refugio to the Grey Refugio with views of the Glacier, icebergs, the Southern Ice Field and the Paine Massif. Picnic lunch close to the Glacier and return by boat across Lake Grey.
Note: The boat crossing is dependent on weather.
Saturday Oct. 31 – Day 9 - Crossing to Argentina
We’ll say goodbye to Chile as we start our drive southeast towards the border of Argentina. At dusk we’ll arrive at El Chaltén, a small town located in Los Glaciares National Park, 220km northwest of El Calafate. El Chaltén is considered the trekking capital of Argentina. It is from here, that we’ll explore the best of Patagonia in the surrounding National Park.
Sunday Nov. 1 – Day 10 - El Chaltén – Cerro Fitz Roy and Laguna de los Tres
El Chaltén is a Tehuelche word meaning “smoking mountain”. This is the name given to Mount Fitz Roy, the cloud-covered peak in the northern part of Los Glaciares National Park . We’ll spend the day hiking to the brilliant blue Laguna de los Tres for spectacular views of Fitz Roy.
Monday Nov. 2 – Day 11 - El Chaltén – Cerro Torre and Laguna Torre
A full day trek to the steep and dramatic Cerro Torre mountain.
Tuesday Nov. 3 – Day 12 - Departure from El Calafate to Buenos Aires
Our last evening will be spent in the port city and capital, Buenos Aires, arriving in at 4:20pm.
Guests will be free to explore this city where “the streets are a tango 24/7”.
Wednesday Nov. 4 – Buenos Aires to Toronto via Santiago
Flight departs to Toronto, via Santiago, at 4:30pm, giving us the morning to explore Buenos Aires. A group tour can be arranged depending on what the group would like to do.
